Aquamarine is a semiprecious colored stone, member of the beryl family (closely related to the emerald) with a transparent blue or sea-green color, sometimes almost white. The most admired aquamarine colors, sky-blue or dark blue, are obtained by applying a heat treatment to a greenish or yellow-brown beryl.
